One of the last people you might expect to run against a DFL endorsed candidate is a former DFL party chairman. Mike Erlandson once said you don't need Democrats who can beat Democrats, you need Democrats who can beat Republicans. But now Erlandson has decided to run against the DFL endorsed candidate in the 5th Congressional District.

During the campaign for retiring Representative Martin Sabo's seat Erlandson said he would abide by the DFL endorsement. Why has he changed his mind and decided to run in the primary? Will a primary contest in the 5th help or hurt other DFL Congressional candidates? He tells us in an exclusive interview.
